The EVA UM is pioneering in its sound and a pure joy to play. A strong responsive piano like clarity best describes this guitar's voice. It is beautiful and sleek with its fine lines and sculpted bevels and innovative in its modern design. The EVA UM acoustic guitar is great for both fingerstyle players and with an expanded range, equally good for strummers too.

When playing fingerstyle, the single notes are very expressive and full of response. As a solo instrument, you will clearly hear the dramatic bass on the lower notes, as well as the rich trebles and mids in the melody. The EVA UM provides an excellent balance of notes, volume and tone.

The EVA UM and EVA JM acoustic guitar have the same bracing pattern. This bracing pattern and offset sound hole are responsible for the EVA UM’s dynamic range and the guitar’s sustaining responsive voice. Over the six years I have been developing this acoustic guitar’s voice, I have been tuning the bracing and the top to excel in this dynamic range with its offset sound hole.

Voicing the top and the bracing is a science and an art. The bracing is critical in the guitar. To state it factually, the bracing "impedes" the top's ability to vibrate more freely. However, without proper bracing the acoustic guitar top will distort under the string's tension, or if the bracing is too stiff, then it will suffocate the top's ability to sing. The EVA UM's bracing and top have been fine tuned to maximize the guitars responsiveness. That balance will ultimately enhance the acoustic guitar's dynamic range to give you a superior playing experience.

The EVA UM acoustic guitar is a coupled system of bracing, back, sides, and the top; along with the neck, nut, fingerboard and bridge. Each has a critical role in the process of creating a sound that will put a smile on your face.

Finding Your Favorite Wood

One of the cool things in the journey to finding the guitar is finding the right wood that will make up that guitar. Our first choice in the standard EVA UM recipe is an easy industry standard Indian Rosewood back and sides set. Not only is Indian Rosewood selected for its beautiful grain lines, it is a great choice for the clarity and punch voiced into our guitars and our tops. It imparts a wonderful bass tone that sometimes can be absent in other woods.

Hand Cut Inlay

Although this acoustic guitar is not fully inlaid in its standard state, the Mother of Pearl Pederson logo is always cut by hand and inlaid by hand. The precision of cutting and in-setting this inlay shows you more of hand made quality that make up these master grade guitars.

The side dots on this guitar are 1/16” or 3/32” in size and mark out the traditionally standard fret locations.

Pinless Bridge

Part of the design of the EVA UM acoustic guitar is to utilize a pinless style bridge. For the player, it is a lower maintenance way to change the strings to speed up that process. Also with this particular bridge structure, it is designed to reduce the weight on the top, yet have the mass needed to support the bone saddle and the string tension placed on the bridge.

Finishing Touches

Although the bevels in this guitar are not standard, following the sleek design lines and the full voice of the guitar, the cut-away is standard along with the off-set sound hole.

At the nut and bridge location we are using bleached bone for its hardness and its bright tone. The Gotoh 510 tuners are also a new standard and they are arguably the best tuners in this price range on the market today.
